All Fluence Wiring Diagrams can be found here, and they are also featured in the support section of each product page.
Ken Susi breaks down how our active Single-Width pickup (SSA) works in combination with other fluence pickups, and also describes how our passive Single-Width pickup (SSP) only works/functions when it is combined/slaved with our active Single-Width pickup (SSA).
Typically, a Fluence battery pack (like any other Li-Ion poly battery) has 300-400 recharge cycles and up to 4 years life time before it starts to gradually lose capacity.
A fully charged Fluence battery pack will offer over 250 hours of plugged in playing time when one Fluence pickup is wired. In a guitar with a 2-pickup system, the battery will offer approximately 120 hours of plugged in playing time.
Soap bar pickups are rectangular in shape and are typically mounted to the guitar with wood screws. The screw holes are recessed on the outer edge of the casing. Fluence 7 & 8 string pickups with plastic finishes mount in this fashion.
Tabbed humbucker pickups are rectangular in shape and can be covered or uncovered. These are usually surrounded with a pickup ring and or suspended from a pickguard. They have mounting ears that extend down below the lower plate of the pickup. The tabs extend out and the screws thread direct into the ears of the pickup. All Fluence 6-string humbuckers are tabbed. 7-string humbuckers with metal finishes also feature tabs.
All Fluence electric guitar pickups ship with high-quality components required to install pickups in their default configuration, including 25k switching pot(s), standard pot(s), wires and a stereo jack. Please refer to the installation diagram listed on the product page to determine model specific contents.
The Tune-o-matic Powerbridge Pickup can install without any major modification to a Les Paul. You will have to file a small notch in the pickup-mounting ring to route the Powerbridge wire. If you want to keep the cosmetics of the guitar absolutely untouched, we suggest that you purchase a new pickup-mounting ring to replace the original.
The Tune-o-Matic Powerbridge conforms to the footprint of Gibson’s Nashville-style bridge. If you are replacing an old style ABR-1 Bridge with a Powerbridge, ask your repair-person to plug and re-drill the post-holes on the guitar’ top to fit the hardware and hole spacing for the Nashville bridge.
We offer a special Powerchip with the correct shaft length, specifically for Les Paul® Tune-o-matic Powerbridge users. The potentiometer for this Powerchip will retrofit perfectly into Les Paul models with long-shaft volume and tone controls.
The answer to this is yes and no. The function of the Powerchip is to buffer the Powerbridge signal to better match up with the magnetic output. This impedance matching allows the Powerbridge and magnetic signals to be mixed to a mono or stereo output, depending on the cable used. A mono cable will give you a combined piezo/magnetic signal to the tip of the output jack, and a stereo cable will give you the magnetic signal on the tip and the Powerbridge on the ring. The Powerchip is not a blend pot, but a volume pot for the Powerbridge only. To adjust the amount of blended Powerbridge and magnetic signals, the Powerchip and the original magnetic volume controls must both be used.
