Hubert “Hub” Więcek (born 20.08.1987 in Rzeszów, Poland) – guitarist, bass player, composer, session musician, guitar and bass instructor. Founder and guitarist of Banisher (formed in 2005, Rzeszów) and former guitarist of Redemptor (2009 – 2023). Hubert is mostly known for his career as a bass player in Decapitated from 2016 to 2020 and as a live session guitarist in Acid Drinkers (since 2019) and Dieth (since 2023).
He began his adventure with guitar as a teenager in 1999. In his stage career of more than 15 years, he has performed more than 500 times in 40 countries around the world, including at major music festivals such as: Woodstock (the biggest festival in Poland, where he performed in front of an audience of 500,000), Summer Breeze (Germany), Hellfest (France), Bloodstock (UK), Inferno Festival (Norway), Metal Blast Festival (Egypt), Rock al Parque (Colombia), Rockfest Barcelona (Spain), Moita Fest (Portugal), Graspop (Belgium), Forta Rock (Netherlands), Brutal Assault (Czech Republic), Copenhell (Denmark) and dozens more.
His artistic output includes more than 20 recorded albums as a guitarist, bassist and session musician, including the album ‘Anticult' by Decapitated, which was nominated for the 2018 Fryderyki Award in the Album of the Year 2018 category (the most prominent award within the Polish music industry). Together with Decapitated, he also won the audience award “Złoty Bączek” 2016 at the Woodstock festival.
Since 2014, Hubert has been an official endorser of the guitar brand Ibanez.
He has been teaching the guitar since 2010. From 2011 to 2014 he was a guitar instructor at Guitarmanic, a private guitar school in Krakow. He has also been a lecturer of guitar workshops at home and abroad (including at the Metal Blast festival in Egypt), and in 2020 he led an online instrumental workshop on guitar and bass, which was supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. He has also participated in band recording workshops at Hertz Studio – as a musician recording for audio engineering students. Since 2021 he has been running his own online guitar school Hub’s Academy.
