Anthony Salvaggio

Anthony Salvaggio is the guitarist and a founding member of the Albany, NY based metalcore outfit Downswing.

Oddly enough, Anthony’s musical journey began with local Guitar Hero competitions, which transpired quickly to him picking up his brother Harry’s Fender Stratocaster at age 12. He began consistently attending shows in 2009 and eventually performing in Albany, NY and the surrounding tristate area.

Growing up, Anthony immersed himself in the timeless, powerful riffs of bands like Metallica, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Hatebreed, and Bullet For My Valentine—artists who laid the foundation for his musical journey.

Since its conception in 2016, Downswing was derived from hardcore punk, pop punk, and metal roots. Throughout the evolution of the band, they’ve started incorporating more singing and melodic elements into their material. This sonic shift continued by adopting heavier breakdowns, more complex guitar work, and a polished production style, aligning them closer to the metalcore genre. This all has come to fruition on the latest 2024 EP ‘Let This Life Devour You’.
