The Fishman Platinum Pro EQ puts you in full control of your acoustic tone with pristine Class A preamplification, powerful EQ, transparent one-knob compression, professional connectivity for stage and studio, and so much more.
The 17-volt discrete Class A preamp allows the full dynamics of your technique shine through, delivering studio-quality tone with zero clipping or distortion.
Fine-tune your acoustic tone for any instrument with the powerful 5-band EQ, with two selectable EQ modes for full-range instruments or bass instruments.
Fatten up your fingerstyle tone, control peaks from percussive techniques, or secure your place in a busy mix, all with one simple knob.
Engaging the tuner automatically mutes the output so you can tune up silently with the press of a switch.
Enhance your sound with acoustic effects pedals while leaving your core acoustic tone pristine and un-processed.
Connect to an acoustic instrument amp, PA system, powered monitor or other full-range audio system. The balanced XLR D.I. output eliminates an outboard D.I., providing a high quality, noise free signal.
Yes. The Platinum Pro EQ even includes preset tuning modes for guitar, bass, ukulele and mandolin.
A compressor lowers the loudest peaks of a signal while raising low-level sounds. Used moderately, a compressor will even out the sound of your acoustic while bringing out delicate nuances of your technique. Heavier compression can start to sound lifeless (because you’ve eliminated necessary dynamics) and will sound noisy (because you’ve raised the noise floor considerably).
Yes. The Platinum Pro EQ can operate with one 9V battery (sold separately), or with the Fishman 910- R power supply (also sold separately).
No; your guitar’s built-in preamp is ready to plug into an amplifier or sound system. A preamp pedal would give you more control over your volume and tone, and may offer useful functionality like a mute switch, tuner and an XLR D.I. output.
The effect loop is for connecting external acoustic effects pedals like reverb, chorus and delay. Separating the effects to their own signal path allows you to layer them on top while leaving your core acoustic tone pure and natural.
Yes. The Platinum Pro EQ measures 6.2″ x 5.6″ x 2.2″, an appropriate size for most pedalboards.
The pre/post EQ switch on the Platinum Pro EQ determines whether the EQ settings will apply to the signal being sent out the XLR output. This is useful in case you want to EQ your signal and split it to an amplifier on stage, while also sending the XLR output without EQ to the sound system to allow the sound engineer to equalize it.
“17-volt” means the preamp operates at a higher internal voltage than a standard 9V pedal. This is important because it increases your dynamic range, which means it can handle loud signals without distorting and you can play with greater expression. “Class A” refers to the specific type of amplifier design, and it does not really matter to the average player in a practical sense whether their amplifier is Class A, Class A/B, or some other variation.
