I wanted to achieve the natural sound of an upright bass but also add layers of punch and low end that the upright bass doesn't have in real life to create an Impossible Mega Bass Tone. The Fishman takes effects really well without sacrificing that natural upright tone. I combine the effected tone of Fishman with a mic on the bass and the tone speaks clearly in the mix, even in a rock n' roll context with many layers of electric guitar and drums and keyboards and synths.
