Uwe Kropinski is a German jazz guitarist.

Born 1952 in Berlin, Kropinksi began playing guitar at age 14. He spent his early years playing rock music. From 1973 to 1976, Kropinski studied jazz and classic guitar at Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, during which time he became influenced by Conny Bauer.

Kropinski first travelled to the USA to play with David Friesen in 1988. Since then, he has also played with people like Volker Schlott, John Stowell, Cecil McBee and Pheeroan Aklaff.

Uwe has toured in almost every European country, composed music for an animated film, and also works as a photographer. His photographs were exhibited several times and were used for his CD covers as well as David Friesen, John Abercrombie, Lee Konitz and Frank Wunsch.

Since 1989 Kropinski has played special guitars with 39 frets made by the guitar maker from Holland, Theo Scharpach.

To date, Uwe Kropinksi has released about 25 CDs and 2 DVDs, plus the 2005 instructional book „Getting in time“ which focused on practicing with the metronome in a musical way.
