The Joe Zelek Band, known to their fans as the “JZB,” has built a large and dedicated regional fan base that began in the tri-state area of Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania and is now expanding across the country. Driven by Joe’s engaging songwriting and high energy stage presence, the band effortlessly blends their authentic country sound with elements of alt-rock/pop.Joe was born and raised just outside of Mt. Pleasant, OH where baseball and dirt bikes ruled his life along with drumming and 80’s Rock Bands. But country music in particular provided the soundtrack to his upbringing in the Ohio Valley.
“My hometown was just across the river from a unique little music scene in Wheeling, WV where you could see the best country music had to offer at the legendary Capitol Music Hall then walk down the street to the Civic Center and see Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, Poison, etc. It was only natural that my songwriting would later find a home somewhere in the middle of those influences.”
Their debut single “Who You Gonna Run To” appeared on the national Billboard/Mediabase charts last summer and was the highest charting single ever by an independent artist on their hometown station WOVK 98.7’s “Top 98 of 2010” Countdown show.
Clear Channel Radio selected the JZB as one of their “Artists To Watch” in January 2011 featuring the band on radio station web sites across the country.
The JZB has appeared main stage alongside the biggest names in country music at the legendary Jamboree In The Hills Festival in Morristown, OH the last four consecutive years where Joe’s “Jambo Song” has become an annual tradition. Ohio Valley residents know him as the writer and performer of numerous regional hits such as “Brought To You By Drinkin,” “Jamboree In The Hills,” “Part Time Country Star,” “Homecoming King,” and “Football Friday Night.”
