Fishman Artist // Counting Crows

Counting Crows formed in 1991. The group gained popularity in 1994 following the release of its debut album in 1993, August and Everything After, which featured the hit single "Mr. Jones".

The band's influences include Van Morrison, R.E.M., Mike + The Mechanics, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and The Band. They received a 2004 Academy Award nomination for the song "Accidentally in Love", which was included in the film Shrek 2.

For the first time in four years, after leaving label Geffen Records to make music independently, Counting Crows released an album on April 10th, 2012 titled "Underwater Sunshine (or What We Did on Our Summer Vacation." This cover album was recorded over one week in April and another in June and the album features songs by The Faces, The Romany Rye and Bob Dylan. Frontman Adam Duritz, said that making "Underwater Sunshine" freed him from songwriting duties and afforded him the time to develop his first play production. This assortment of covers captures Counting Crows' allegiance to Americana music, and certain lyrics underscore themes that could have easily flowed from Duritz' pen.
