Who's Using Fishman?
John B. Williams
February 2005
Legendary jazz bass player John B. Williams has quite the resume, his talents have supported such luminaries as Doc Severinsen’s “The Tonight Show” Band, Arsenio Hall Shows band “The Posse,” Nancy Wilson, Manhattan Transfer, Hugh Massakela, Freddie Hubbard, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and the list goes on.
Williams’ uniquely textured bass style is not something you just hear. You feel it down to your bones.
John feels that he has a responsibility to all musicians. He states “We all stand on the shoulders of musicians who came before us, so it’s my responsibility to make my shoulders strong enough and share my experiences with aspiring musicians. Everything I have is on loan, and I have to pass it on to keep growing.”
John is proud of his first CD, a collaboration of original compositions with long time friend saxophonist Bennie Maupin. It is called “The Maupin / Williams Project.”
John has been a Fishman artist for a very long time. His Fishman equipment includes a BP-100 with a mic and Bass Blender, a Bass Platinum DI as well as a new Full Circle Bass pickup.
