Jimmy Buffett uses Fishman in "Fin Land"

Jimmy Buffett opened the summer leg of his “Welcome to Fin Land’’ tour Saturday in the Boston area, where he's always had a soft spot (and a huge following) since his early folk days playing Club Passim in Cambridge, MA.

The Comcast Center turned to Margaritaville around noon time, as the sold out audience began arriving in flip flops, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and every other imaginable Parrothead apparel du jour.

A pirate at 64, Jimmy Buffett performed a 24-song set of crowd pleasers covering his 40-year career. The set began with "The Wino I Know" and the continued with two hours of Caribbean coolness, all with a twist of humor and playful irreverence.

We caught up with guitar tech Doug Breidenbach after sound check and took a look at the many acoustics used in the show by Buffett and guitarists Mac McAnally and Peter Mayer. A signature series C.F. Martin Jimmy Buffett HD-18JB (with a Matrix Infinity) sits front & center on stage and remains Jimmy's go-to acoustic. An Aura Sixteen is perched on a road case at stage left, permanently set to Image #7 with the blend at 100%!

Buffett’s spirited, easy-going songs were perfectly complimented with the warm and airy tone coming from all the acoustic guitars on stage. Summer has arrived!
