All of us at Fishman would like to congratulate Maroon 5 on winning their first ever American Music Award on Sunday, November 20 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The band won for Best Pop/Rock Artist in the band, duo or group category, beating out LMFAO and Fishman artists OneRepublic in the first category of the night.
Adam Levine, the band's lead singer and The Voice judge, thanked "our incredible fans for making this happen. "This is our first one, this is crazy! I think in order to get one of these you have to have amazing fans. Thank you guys very much." Levine went on to offer some advice to up-and-coming bands by adding, “Don’t let (the labels) take your merchandise or touring. It’s called a ‘360 deal’ and it’s bull. Don’t ever sign one if you’re an up and coming band.”
Maroon 5 won the prestigious award largely on the strength of their current hit single "Moves Like Jagger." Later in the American Music Awards Show, Maroon 5 performed "Moves Like Jagger" with Christina Aguilera. Watch a video of the AMA performance here.
The infectious collaboration with Christina Aguilera went to number one after it's July debut. Not originally included on Maroon 5's "Hands All Over" record, the single was released for digital download in conjunction with a live performance of the song on NBC's talent show competition The Voice, which features Levine and Aguilera as judges.
